The Count of Monte Cristo book PDF is an adventure account that mainly focuses on the themes of faith, justice, revenge, sympathy and pardon. The historical set up is the basic element of the story. The plot is set in the period of 1815–1839 in France, Italy, and the Mediterranean islands. From the period of the Bourbon re-establishment through the rule of Louis-Philippe of France.
The story is about a young sailor Edmond Dantes, who is in prison, but actually he is innocent. In jail, he becomes a friend of a fellow prisoner Abbe Faria. Faria tells him about a treasure which is concealed on the Isle of Monte Cristo. Now he decides to escape and avail the treasure. He wants to use it for the destruction of those who were responsible for his detention. One day Faria dies and Dantes hides himself in a burial sack in the place of Faria. So, this way he escapes from the jail.
First of all he successfully recovers the treasure. In addition, he also obtains the island and the title of Count from the Tuscan government. When he becomes a rich Count of Monte Cristo, he starts to take his revenge from the responsible persons. They are Danglars, Fernand and Villefort. These three men were responsible for the destruction of his life.
However, his intentions might be harmful for the innocent people along with the guilty. Furthermore, you will see throughout the book how some characters gradually disclose their true nature. You will also find love, commitment, deception and selfishness in different characters of this tale.
